I'm Moving

I'm moving my blog to achildnotofthisworld.tumblr.com. Blogspot isn't working for me, it's too complicated and I've been trying to upload photos for weeks but there's an error. You can find me there! :)

Well Dressed Wednesday

I'm glad I got this vest (despite the opposition). It was too hot to wear jeans but jeans are my go-to bottoms when I'm feeling lazy. It was so hot that I only took five photos. Therefore photography requires lots of patience and time, just for that one special photo.

  • Jeans: Bullhead from Pacsun
  • Oxfords: thrifted

Photo Edits

I love editing photos because depending on the effects, the story/emotion of the photo changes with white balance, hue, etc . I use Windows Live Photo Gallery for minor adjustments and Splash Up Light, Picnik, and Adobe Photoshop Express for really cool effects. I also use Instagram, Snapbucket, and Photoshop Express on my iPhone (all free). I used Picnik to make all of these Before and After edits.

Flashback Friday

I was reading through my mom's devotional book: "Hearing from God each Morning" by Joyce Meyer when I came across one devotional that spoke to my affinity and inspiration for photography. January 5, "God is not Hiding" is about the visual beauty of the world as it pertains to our relationship with God.
Here's an excerpt: 'He speaks to everyone through His handiwork and nature itself testifies of His power and plans... The main thing He says to us through nature is that He truly exists. He tries to reach us every day and He leaves clues about Himself everywhere, clues that say, "I am here! You don't have to worry or be afraid. I am here." '
This really spoke to me and affirmed my interest in photography. The simplest but most beautiful concept that every human being has the opportunity to know God (through nature) is why photos matter to me. I want to capture stills of life, moments that will never occur again, in the hopes that someone else will catch on to this.

Well Dressed Wednesday

Well I haven't blogged since Saturday. The reason? A freak storm knocked out most of our power *sadness*. Some parts of the house did have full power so we plugged the refrigerator into a working outlet in the basement. All the electricity in the Ladies Den worked so we lived in there; watching TV and charging devices and because I couldn't turn on a fan in my room I slept in there. Word of Advice: It's natural to become a slight pyromaniac when surrounded by candles.
No photo editing, the sky was honestly this color after the storm. Around 9:30 p.m. I thought the world was ending, definitely supernatural.

Brought out the pyro in me. I burned a tissue and matches and a wet tissue :)

But I will not let Well Dressed Wednesday pass! So on to the outfit....I wore this outfit to church on Sunday. I absolutely love this skirt and I got so many compliments on it. The necklace is so overpowering that a plain black tee was all I needed.

This is my necklace but from another outfit.

  • Thrifted skirt
  • Thrifted necklace
  • Born sandals
Ya know what? I might as well show that other outfit. So here it is: (from March 28, 2011)
